Southern Design Piers
Our Passion is Excellence
Who We Are
Southern Design Piers (SDP) is the sister company of Southern Design Concrete, founded in 2019 to help builders overcome substandard soil conditions without delaying construction schedules. By integrating helical pier installation with concrete foundation work when needed, SDP provides efficient, engineered solutions that keep projects moving.

Founded by Deven Bradford, a civil engineer with extensive concrete construction experience, SDP is built on a deep understanding of structural capacity and strict adherence to engineered specifications. Every member of the SDP team completes a rigorous certification process through Chance Piers, the U.S.-based innovator in helical pier technology, ensuring consistent, code-compliant installations.

SDP utilizes advanced installation equipment with certified, calibrated torque meters to verify proper load capacity on every pier. All steel installed by SDP is U.S.-manufactured in Centralia, Missouri, and backed by a manufacturer lifetime warranty, providing long-term confidence for builders, developers, and engineers.

Through a combination of engineering expertise, advanced technology, and innovative helix configurations, SDP delivers reliable deep foundation solutions for residential and development projects. Our ability to deploy double and triple helix systems—options not always offered by competitors—has earned Southern Design Piers a reputation as a trusted, industry-leading partner for complex soil challenges.

Our Services

Helical Piers and Pilings
Advanced helical pier technology is used to provide dependable, engineered foundation solutions.
Substandard Soil Mitigation
Substandard soil conditions are corrected per engineered specifications to ensure the integrity and longevity of construction projects.
Why Piers?
Substandard soils are sometimes encountered in areas designated for concrete foundations. When existing soils cannot support required structural loads, helical piers provide an immediate, engineered solution by transferring loads to competent bearing strata and delivering instant load-bearing capacity.

Also known as helical piles or helical foundations, these systems consist of steel shafts installed to a verified load capacity measured by installation torque. Each pier is installed using certified, calibrated torque meters to accurately confirm load-bearing capacity, ensuring compliance with engineered specifications and long-term structural performance. Torque-based verification is the most reliable method for confirming helical pier capacity in the field.

Helical piers generate zero soil waste, are immediately load-bearing, and allow construction to proceed without delay. When unexpected soil conditions arise, helical pier installation can be seamlessly integrated with concrete foundation work—often in coordination with Southern Design Concrete—to maintain schedules and protect project budgets.
By mitigating substandard soils efficiently and reliably, helical piers provide a proven deep foundation solution that ensures stability, durability, and confidence in your foundation system.
